Founded by Tyler Scott in 1988, John Alden joined the firm in 1999. Joel Page became a partner in 2013. Today, Tyler, John and Joel lead a team of licensed architects, project managers and administrative staff.
Tyler Scott, AIAArchitect + Managing Partner
Tyler is a prolific generator of ideas. “Ideas aren’t sacred,” he muses. Ideas are a means to an end for Tyler, and fuel his unbiased and uncompromising pursuit for the ideal architectural solution. With a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from Kent State University and a Master of Architecture from Montana State University, Tyler is responsible for the overall direction and general management of the firm. In addition, Tyler manages the healthcare portion of the firm’s work.
John Alden, AIA, NCARBArchitect + Partner
“What if?” This is possibly John Alden’s favorite question. He asks it of clients, architects, builders, and himself. John looks at every angle, explores every avenue, and pursues every idea before landing on the best solution for the project. With a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Civilizations and Political Science from University of Vermont and a Master of Architecture from State University of New York at Buffalo, John is a Registered Architect in the States of VT, NY, NH, and MA, and he is primarily responsible for facility evaluations, project development and team management.
Joel Page, AIAArchitect + Partner
Practical and technically proficient with a balanced and steady manner — Joel approaches projects from a holistic perspective focusing on the client’s needs while keeping an eye on the future impact of the design. “How we live today impacts our planet’s future – design is no different.” Good design should be sustainable, energy efficient and universal. With a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Bates College and an Associate of Applied Science from Vermont Technical College, Joel is a Registered Architect in Vermont. His primary responsibilities include design and project management.
Kevin Trout, AIAArchitect
Hailing from Rochester, NY and obtaining his degree in architecture from the University at Buffalo, Kevin’s experience ranges from institutional and commercial work to adaptive reuse and preservation projects across western New York State and Vermont. He married a Vermonter in 2007. Five years later he found himself living in the Green Mountains as most Vermonters-by-association eventually do.
Estelle NelsonOffice Manager
Estelle has been with Scott + Partners since 1989. She is responsible for financial accounting, maintaining the client database, and various day-to-day administrative office functions. Prior to joining the firm, she received her A.S. in Legal Secretarial Studies from Champlain College, and worked at the State Attorney’s office for five years before working in architecture. Estelle now resides in Essex, VT with her husband and they have two grown children.
Eliana joined Scott + Partners in 2017. Originally from Lima, Peru, Eliana studied architecture and urbanism at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru and received her architecture license in her home country in 2012. Always oriented toward design work, her professional experience ranges from urban planning to residential, commercial, and multi-family housing projects to interior design. Eliana’s passion for learning and seeking new experiences led her to Vermont where she and her husband, a native Vermonter, decided to call home after extensive travels around North and South America.
Jess Gasek, Assoc. AIAAssociate
Jess Gasek joined Scott + Partners in 2014, after completing her Master of Architecture degree at Roger Williams University. Jess has already developed a strong skillset in light commercial construction and detailing. Prior to Scott + Partners, Jess worked at Sasaki Associates in Watertown, MA where she participated in a summer internship program which studied the effects of climate change and sea level rise on the city of Boston. Originally from Connecticut, Jess is a transplant to Vermont where her love of the outdoors is a natural fit. Along with her husband Miles, Jess enjoys exploring new places and finding any excuse to mountain bike.
At Scott + Partners, Erich is responsible for construction document development and Revit modeling for commercial/ multi-family building projects. Prior to joining Scott + Partners, Erich worked as a Virtual Construction Engineer at DEW, where he learned how to model and analyze buildings in 3D. Since moving to Vermont from Boston in 2004, Erich has gained diverse technical and construction modeling experience at various firms in the Burlington area. Erich has been in the architecture and design field since 1987, when he received his Associate’s Degree in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley.
Kate joined Scott + Partners in 2017, after graduating with her Masters in Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology. While in school, Kate interned at design firms in both Boston and San Francisco. Her working experience ranges from large-scale commercial and healthcare projects, to small-scale residential work. Since moving to Vermont, Kate has enjoyed teaching yoga locally, and spending time exploring the Green Mountains.
Jocelyn Joined Scott and Partners in 2018 after completing her Master degree in Architecture at Norwich University. Her thesis focused on ways to safely and affordably house homeless. While in School Jocelyn interned with Scott and Partners. Having grown up in Vermont she enjoys the many outdoor activities that the state has to offer from hiking to kayaking.
Austin Shaw, Assoc. AIAAssociate
Austin joined Scott + Partners in 2017. Prior to his time at S+P, he had six years of experience working in Fairfield County, CT on many high-end residential, commercial and multi-family housing projects throughout NYC, Connecticut and Long Island. Austin has a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Studies from Norwich University. Since recently moving back to Vermont, Austin and his wife Stephanie enjoy kayaking and travelling with their dog.
