How We Work...
Founded in 1988 by Tyler Scott, we plan, design and manage building projects for an impressive range of commercial clients, with a focus on healthcare, housing, and education.
The process begins with a question: What do you want from your space? From here, ideas are generated. No idea is too big, small or sacred. Creating the right space requires meticulous planning, imaginative thinking, open communication and relentless management. We do not integrate any one particular style into our work, but strive to carefully incorporate the demands of function, budget, sustainability, and context to create buildings and spaces of enduring value for our clients.
We believe an engaged, collaborative design process involving the client and the design team will bring out the most innovative and successful design solutions for any project. Our work culminates in spaces that elegantly represent a point-of-view, meet or surpass technical requisites, and provide something that everyone involved is proud to enjoy.
The Team:
John Alden, AIA
“What if?” This is possibly John Alden’s favorite question. He asks it of clients, architects, builders, and himself. John looks at every angle, explores every avenue, and pursues every idea before landing on the best solution for the project.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Civilizations and Political Science from University of Vermont and a Master of Architecture from State University of New York at Buffalo, John is a Registered Architect in the States of VT, NY, NH, and MA.
Joel Page, AIA
Practical and technically proficient with a balanced and steady manner — Joel approaches projects from a holistic perspective focusing on the client’s needs while keeping an eye on the future impact of the design. “How we live today impacts our planet’s future – design is no different.” Good design should be sustainable, energy efficient and universal.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Bates College and an Associate of Applied Science from Vermont Technical College, Joel is a Registered Architect in Vermont.
Kevin Trout, AIA
Kevin believes architecture should support our physical, practical, and emotional needs rather than advertising philosophical tenets. We have much to learn from thousands of years of architectural exploration about the roles of the function, meaning, and beauty served by our built environment.
Kevin received his degree in architecture from the University at Buffalo and his experience ranges from institutional and commercial work to adaptive reuse and preservation projects across western New York State and Vermont. He is registered in both states.
Jess Gasek
Jess believes architecture should respond to its surroundings, be responsible to the environment, and be unique for the people who use it. She likes to learn about people and finds joy in designing based on their needs.
Her work strives to offer something distinctive to the built environment. “I want to design places and spaces for people to live their lives, form and foster relationships, and to find their passions.”
Jess received her Master of Architecture degree at Roger Williams University with a thesis focused on homelessness and the role of the built environment. Her human-centered practice includes many project types with a focus on housing and healthcare.
Jess enjoys life in the mountains, hiking, biking, skiing, and disc golfing. She also loves a good book in front of the wood stove!
Danielle Gueli
Seeing a project created from its inception by the imaginative minds in our office is one of my favorite parts of this job!”
Originally hailing from Ohio, Danielle joined our office in 2023. With an Associate degree in Business Management, she also brings her experience in various Business, Real Estate, and Administration roles. An eye for detail is not just for the Architects as Danielle takes charge and maneuvers through the ever-changing needs of our business.
When not at the office you can find Danielle on the trails or kayaking along the river with her dog, Tina. She also loves hunting for amazing vintage finds at antique stores and flea markets.
Erich Kasprik
At Scott + Partners, Erich is responsible for construction document development and Revit modeling for commercial/ multi-family building projects.
Prior to joining Scott + Partners, Erich worked as a Virtual Construction Engineer, where he learned how to model and analyze buildings in 3D. Since moving to Vermont from Boston in 2004, Erich has gained diverse technical and construction modeling experience. Erich has been in the architecture and design field since 1987, when he received his Associate’s Degree in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley.
Jocelyn Noyes
Jocelyn believes that architecture should create spaces that meet the physical and emotional needs of the clients and users while considering the greater impact that the built environment will have on the surrounding communities and environment.
Since joining Scott + Partners in 2018 she has worked on a variety of project types including hospitality, healthcare, commercial, and educational.
Jocelyn has a Masters degree in Architecture from Norwich University. Her thesis focused on ways to safely and affordably house homeless.
Having grown up in Vermont she enjoys the many outdoor activities from hiking to kayaking.
Travis Nutting
Born and raised in Vermont, Travis has a great appreciation for the problem solving involved with architecture. There is always room for creative solutions as the project evolves from a broad idea to a set of drawings to a finished building. Travis got his Master of Architecture degree at Norwich University in 2022.
Outside of architecture, Travis spends his free time doing woodworking, blacksmithing, hunting and reading.
Austin Shaw
Austin enjoys how architectural design can be very abstract and organic, to then become concrete and everlasting.
Prior to his time at S+P, he worked on many high-end residential, commercial, and multi-family housing projects throughout NYC, Connecticut, and Long Island. Since joining the firm in 207, Austin has worked on various projects for multiple clients including UVM, UVMMC, and Beta Technologies. Austin has a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Studies from Norwich University.
In his free time, Austin and his wife Stephanie enjoy kayaking and traveling with their dog.
Lyn Wood
Lyn has experienced architecture throughout the world and has formed an appreciation for the influence architecture has on our lives. She believes it is a true expression of humanity, offering the ability to move our hearts and minds beyond ourselves.
Lyn’s design process uses critical and creative thinking with honest and open collaboration to exceed one’s expectations of what architecture can provide.
Raised in Vermont, Lyn earned a Bachelor of Architecture Degree at Syracuse University and is a registered Architect in the State of Vermont.
Lyn celebrates life with her husband Thom and acknowledges her greatest accomplishment in life as a mother of seven beautiful children. In joy, seeking the extra ordinary in the ordinary.
Tyler Scott, AIA
Tyler retired from the firm in June of 2021, but his approach still guides our work. He believed in prolific generation of ideas. Ideas aren’t sacred, but are a means to an end for Tyler, and fueled his unbiased and uncompromising pursuit for the ideal architectural solution.
Tyler's guidance and leadership in architecture live on in the heart of Scott + Partners as we continue the work that he founded. His mentorship will always inform the design, building, and leadership we serve to our clients in the next era of the firm.
